Radio Interoperability - The Radio Interface Module - Remote (RIM-R) converts tactical secure and non-secure radios into IP packets for convergence into a modern network. The RIM-R module makes it possible for radios to communicate with dissimilar radio devices as well as other telephony endpoints within the network. Secure radio connections must meet COMSEC requirements to be connected. For secure operations, the TIG will not allow non-secure connections to be established if both ends do not meet the minimum security level of the call.
The RIM-R provides four ports of direct dial access for outgoing connections and off hook service for calls in-bound from radio terminals. The module provides Push-To-Talk (PTT) control utilizing Voice Operated Switch (VOX) or Dual Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF).
